Hip Hop

Hip Hop is composed of different street dances, breaking, popping, and locking. In this style, you will learn about the shift in hip hop music over time and learn various movement aesthetics and expressions. This class will also incorporate Temphopical.  Temphopical combines elements of Contemporary, Hip Hop and Lyrical.

An exploration of the movement through breath, textures and energy of any element (fire, earth, water, air) as keys to this signature style. It's a FREEDOM of expression and communication based from various elements through movement.  Class encourages students to step outside the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to their movements. Class continues to build skills such as rhythm, coordination, musicality, choreography, and thinking on your feet.

Jazz

In this class, we focus on continuing specific techniques such as isolations of the body, developing complex rhythms and pat-terns, balance, and stylistic movements. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement.  In class dancers will learn proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. This level is increasingly more complex and intricate.

Lyrical

We challenge our dancers to use connecting flowing movements to interpret music and express inner emotions. This emotional expression is an important element at this level. Its lines are on a central axis, but often use tilts, arches, spirals, and curves as an aesthetic addition. Dancers continue to grow their technique, choreography, and terminology. Conditioning and flexibility training, and musicality are continued. Class combines the strength of jazz with the concept of turn out used in ballet technique.

Contemporary
Ballet, jazz, or lyrical technique is required to participate in contemporary class.

A fun and creative style of dance that started about 50 years ago. Unlike ballet, which has lots of strict rules, contemporary dance is all about freedom and expressing yourself. Dancers in this style move in many different ways, combining moves from jazz, hip-hop, and even dances from different cultures. They use the floor a lot, play with gravity, and make big, flowing movements with their bodies. Contemporary dance is all about telling stories, showing emotions, and letting each dancer's unique personality shine through their movements.

Modern
A dance discipline retaining some ballet technique, expanding upon it and freeing it to encompass the exciting world of total body involvement and creative expression. Modern dance may look jazz like, balletic, lyrical or totally different - creating its style for the mood being explored.
